HUNGER: AGLOBAL AGENDA
Reduction of hunger are key priorities and targets top of
global agenda from past few years.
These are few facts going to tell us what the world is
facing due to lack of proper nutritious food
●
At least 800 million people suffer from malnutrition
●
Sub-Saharan Africa has an infant mortality rate of 9.2 per
cent and three million children in the region have gone
blind due to a deficiency of Vitamin A
●
an estimated 1.3 billion people live on less than $1 per
day, insufficient income to purchase an adequate diet The
above mentioned facts are mentioned in last month’s famous
magazine 'Forbes'.Poverty is the principal cause of
hunger and hike in prices of the resources due to limited
production. Hunger is also a cause of poverty and thus by
causing poor health, small body size, low levels of energy,
and reductions in mental functioning, hunger can lead to
even greater poverty by reducing people’s ability to work
and learn, thus leading to even greater hunger Meat
production is a wasteful use of the planet's limited
resources. Even today 40% of grain crops are going to feed
livestock’s and fish. It is most inefficient with intensive
beef farming where it has been shown that just 2.5 % of the
feed given to cattle emerges as calories of our consumption
That is why UN said agricultural production will have to
rise 60% to feed the extra 2 billion mouths in 2050
The above data is given on UN website
Does the world produce enough food to feed everyone?
The world produces enough food to feed everyone. For the
world as a whole, per capita food availability has risen
from about 2220 kcal/person/day in the early 1960s to 2790
kcal/person/day in 2006-08, while developing countries even
recorded a leap from 1850 kcal/person/day to over 2640
kcal/person/day
As per data given by FAO Yes genetically modified crops will
help out the world to achieve zero hunger
everyone can agree that hunger in the 21st century is
horrible and preventable. Sustainable Development Goals,
agreed upon by 193 nations in September of 2015, include the
aim to end hunger, achieve food security and improved
nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture by 2030.
Achieving Zero Hunger, compared to the 795 million people
who are food insecure today, is a noble goal. I believe in
order for us to reach this goal, biotechnology is going to
play a vital role and end this world from craving.
Biotechnology is one of tomorrow’s tools in our hands today.
Slowing its acceptance is a luxury our hungry world cannot
afford

The price of the product is set by the demand, quantity &
quality of the product
We can always increase the production with the help of
different modified seeds and techniques.
Temperature and the envoi mental conditions are changing day
by day.
We should change our strategies by taking help of advanced
technologies to increase the productivity of the raw
materials and when the availability of excess amount of raw
resources we will going to resolve this issue to some
extent.
